Notes:

Driven by rapid ongoing advances in computer hardware, neuroscience and computer science, artificial brain research and development seem to be blossoming. There have been quite a few artificial brain projects worldwide, including large-scale brain simulations. Artificial brains are typically based on biologically inspired cognitive architectures. For instance, the China-Brain Project, building China’s artificial brain, used an evolved neural net module approach (“partially connected neural evolutionary” model). The China-Brain Project was a four year, 3 million RMB project to build a 15,000 evolved neural net module artificial brain in China. Artificial brains are used to take the strain of CCTV (closed-circuit television), interpret Adriatic surface currents, and guide maze-like robots comprised of a perception unit and decision-making unit.

Generally, artificial brains may be considered as networks of computational building blocks. Artificial brains are based on credible neural circuits of a human brain. Artificial brains should be able to organize decisions and behavioral choices. Artificial brains are based on brain-inspired algorithms for human-like intelligent functions, such as automatic multi-module neural network evolution. Sentence generation in artificial brains may be based on “glocal” similarity-matching. Even a PC based software system for controlling an artificial brain may contain 10,000 evolved neural net modules. One patented method and apparatus defined an artificial brain as a plurality of concept nodes connected together through predetermined relationships.
