Apart from the tremendous number of special cases, what makes natural languages harder to parse than programming languages?

The definitions of natural language words are almost never concrete entities, but instead are extremely fluid.  For example, the simple word “chair” can represent vastly different things in the mind’s eye of different people.  Even on Quora, semantic arguments often boil down to differing definitions, such that people go round and round talking about apples and oranges.  Really, it’s a miracle that people seem to understand each other as well as they do.
