**Personality-holding AI character that activates the metaverse space and the XR space will be unveiled for the first time**
NTT Resonant Inc. (Headquarters: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Ken Kusunoki; hereinafter referred to as NTT Resonant) provides a group of APIs called â??AI suiteâ? that can utilize various AI technologies. We are pleased to announce the first public release of a personality-holding AI character that activates the space. This technology will be exhibited at the 13th Japan IT Week Autumn 6th AI/Business Automation Exhibition [Autumn] to be held at Makuhari Messe from October 26th (Wednesday) to 28th (Friday), 2022.
At the venue, we will introduce five demonstrations of AI suite utilization scenes. The technologies used in these demonstrations can be used for business in the Metaverse/XR space, online meetings, and so on.
1. Exhibit contents
(1) Personality-holding AI character
Using a newly developed algorithm by NTT Resonant, a demo of a personality-retaining AI character (character) that can maintain a more consistent conversation than before while maintaining its personality will be unveiled at the exhibition venue for the first time.
By storing long-term conversation history in chronological order, it makes the conversation responses of NPCs (Non Player Characters) ( * 1) , which tend to be monotonous , more natural and diverse. Lively conversations between NPCs can be applied to revitalize the Metaverse space and XR space and anticipate the effect of attracting customers.
This technology makes it possible to read and respond to the speaker’s personality by taking into account the “past n conversations” and the “speaker’s profile” such as age, place of residence, and hobbies and preferences. This makes it possible to achieve highly accurate conversations that match the personalities and relationships of the speaker and respondent. Compared to the conventional method of learning personality based on user ID ( * 2) and the method of referring to fixed sentences describing personality information ( * 3) , it is known that the accuracy of response selection is higher.
(2) Four other exhibition demonstrations utilizing AI suite functions
– Next-generation reception navigation “AI Concierge” in Metaverse space/XR space
– “Online meeting sensing” that detects the emotions and concentration levels of online meeting participants in real time
– “Role-play diagnosis with AI” that quantitatively evaluates the characteristics of user conversations by role-playing with AI
– “API linkage with online conferencing tools” that performs sentiment analysis of speakers in cooperation with existing online conferencing tools
In the four demonstrations above, we used audio and video feature values â??â??extracted using tools such as “MediaGnosis ® ” (4) developed by NTT Computer & Data Science Laboratories to simulate the “Multimodal Dialogue Response System” originally developed by NTT Resonant.ã?»Emotion prediction engineâ? integrates and learns emotion and response prediction from voice, video, and language.

2.About AI suite
(1) Overview
The AI â??â??suite is a group of APIs that can utilize various AI technologies, such as multimodal dialogue APIs that enable the analysis of audio and video information in addition to the analysis of text information.
Since 2016, NTT Resonant has been providing various services and researching and developing AI technology using its own “goo’s AI” technology. Based on this know-how, the AI â??â??suite, which has been available since 2021, is based on natural language-related AI technology, and provides corporate customers with functions that can be linked with audio and video-related AI technology as an API group. In addition, we are also offering a reception avatar â??AI Tsumugiâ? that can be used automatically on the virtual space platform â??DOORâ?¢â? (provided by NTT QONOQ, Inc.).
(2) Future development
The AI â??â??suite realizes communication that appropriately understands human emotions and situations. We aim to create AI services that enable advanced communication that is sensitive to human emotions, and contribute to social and economic activities where humans and AI coexist.
