Notes:
Speech Application Language Tags (SALT) is a programming language that was developed as an alternative to VoiceXML (Voice Extensible Markup Language) for creating voice-based applications such as interactive voice response (IVR) systems and voice-enabled websites.
Like VoiceXML, SALT is a markup language that is used to define the structure and content of a voice-based application, including the prompts and responses that the application will use to interact with users. SALT uses a combination of tags and script to define the behavior of the application and to control how it responds to user input.
One advantage of SALT is that it is designed to be easier to use and more flexible than VoiceXML. It is designed to be more intuitive and to allow developers to more easily create complex voice-based applications without having to learn a complex programming language.
SALT has been used to develop a variety of voice-based applications, including IVR systems, voice-enabled websites, and voice-based search engines. It is supported by a number of software development tools and is used by a number of organizations around the world.
