Keyphrase Extraction & Dialog Systems

Keyphrase extraction is the process of automatically identifying the important topics or themes in a piece of text. It involves extracting a set of words or phrases that capture the main ideas or themes of the text. Keyphrase extraction can be useful in a variety of applications, such as information retrieval, text summarization, and topic modeling.

Terminology extraction is a subfield of keyphrase extraction that focuses specifically on extracting technical terms and phrases from a given text. These terms and phrases may be domain-specific or industry-specific, and are often used in a specific context. Terminology extraction can be used to build specialized dictionaries or glossaries, or to help with translation tasks. It is often used in fields such as science, technology, and medicine, where the use of specialized terminology is common.

Keyphrase extraction can be used in dialog systems to help identify the main topics or themes that a user is interested in. For example, if a user is asking a question about a particular topic, the keyphrases extracted from the user’s question can be used to help determine the most relevant response or information to provide.

In a chatbot or virtual assistant, keyphrase extraction can be used to help the system understand the user’s intent and identify the key information that the user is seeking.
