Notes:
This text discusses the use of dialogue systems, also known as chatbots or virtual assistants, in various applications. These systems use artificial intelligence and multimodal communication cues, such as speech and facial expressions, to interact with humans. They are used in tasks such as negotiation training and large-scale social simulations, as well as in the design of embodied virtual humans. The text mentions the use of dialogue systems in education and the creation of self-learning agents. The performance of these systems is evaluated using measures such as task success and user satisfaction. The text also discusses the use of natural language processing techniques in dialogue systems and the role of dialogue management in coordinating the flow of conversation.
