Notes:

Faceted classification is a method of classifying objects using multiple taxonomies that express different attributes or facets of the objects, rather than using a single taxonomy. Each facet represents a different aspect or characteristic of the objects being classified, and the different facets can be used to classify the objects in different ways.

Faceted classification is often used to represent knowledge about complex and multifaceted objects, such as documents or products, in a way that is more flexible and expressive than traditional single-taxonomy classification systems. It allows users to explore and search for objects using different facets, and it can help to improve the precision and recall of search results.

Faceted taxonomies can be used to represent knowledge about the objects being classified in a structured and organized manner, and they can substitute for ontologies in some cases. An ontology is a formal representation of knowledge that specifies the relationships between different concepts and their properties, while a faceted taxonomy is a classification system that uses multiple facets to represent the attributes of objects.

A schema is a representation of a plan or theory in the form of an outline or model, and it is often used to describe the structure and organization of data or knowledge. In the context of faceted classification, a schema could be used to define the different facets and the relationships between them, as well as the rules for classifying objects using the facets.

It allows users to explore and search for objects using different facets, and it can help to improve the precision and recall of search results.
