Is human brain itself a virtual reality box that models the world outside?

I believe… the human brain tries to re-create a microcosm of the macrocosm, in other words a model.  We live in the real world, however perceived through this necessarily imperfect model, or reflection.  Perhaps all of a person’s life is about reconciling the two.
