Notes:
Photogrammetry is the science of using photographs to measure and generate spatial data. This includes both the process of capturing photographs and the subsequent analysis of those photographs to extract information about the objects and features depicted in the images. Photogrammetry is used in a variety of fields, including surveying, mapping, and engineering, as well as in applications such as 3D modeling, virtual reality, and computer vision.
There are several methods used in photogrammetry to extract measurements from photographs, including stereophotogrammetry, which involves the use of two or more photographs taken from different viewpoints to generate a 3D model of an object or scene. Other methods include close-range photogrammetry, which involves taking photographs from a relatively close distance to an object, and aerial photogrammetry, which involves using photographs taken from an aerial perspective, such as from an airplane or satellite.
Photogrammetry has many advantages over traditional measurement methods, including the ability to quickly and accurately measure large or complex objects or landscapes, and the ability to capture data from difficult-to-access locations or from remote areas. It is also a relatively low-cost method for generating spatial data, as it does not require specialized equipment or personnel to be on site.
- Photogrammetric refers to the process of using photographs to measure and generate spatial data, as well as to the techniques and technologies used to do so. This includes both the capture of photographs and the subsequent analysis of those photographs to extract information about the objects and features depicted in the images. Photogrammetry is used in a variety of fields, including surveying, mapping, and engineering, as well as in applications such as 3D modeling, virtual reality, and computer vision.
- Retopology is the process of creating a new, clean topology (the arrangement of vertices, edges, and faces on a 3D mesh) for a 3D model while preserving the overall shape and detail of the original model. This is often done to reduce the complexity of a model, making it easier to work with and more efficient to render, or to conform to a specific topological structure or requirement. Retopology is a common step in the process of creating 3D models for animation or games, as it can significantly improve the performance of the model and make it easier to animate and deform.
- Texture baking is the process of generating a texture map (a 2D image that is applied to the surface of a 3D model) from the high-resolution details of a 3D model. This is done by rendering the model using a specific set of lighting and shading conditions, and then capturing the resulting images as a texture map. Texture baking is often used to transfer the high-resolution details of a model onto a lower-resolution version of the model, or to generate texture maps for use in real-time rendering applications, such as games or virtual reality.
