Notes:
YAGO2 is a large-scale, open-source knowledge base that is built automatically from structured and unstructured data sources such as Wikipedia, WordNet, and GeoNames. It is a semantic knowledge base that represents concepts and relationships between them in a structured way, using a set of relation-specific heuristics to extract knowledge from the source data.
YAGO2 is particularly well-known for its focus on spatial and temporal information, which are important for understanding the context and meaning of concepts and relationships. It includes more than 200 million facts, many of which are augmented with relevant temporal and spatial information. This makes it a valuable resource for tasks that require a rich, spatially and temporally enhanced understanding of concepts and relationships.
YAGO2 is one of the most widely used ontologies, or formal representations of concepts and relationships, and is used in a variety of applications, including natural language processing, information retrieval, and machine learning. It has been developed and maintained by a team of researchers and developers, and is constantly updated with new data and features.
Domain-specific ontologies are formal representations of concepts and relationships within a particular domain or subject area. They can be constructed from hierarchical web documents by combining them with a knowledge base such as YAGO2, and then used in various applications, including automatic question answering systems and recommender systems.
To allow for better comparability, it is often useful to transform different ontologies and datasets into a common format, such as the N-Triple format. This involves representing each concept and relationship as a single row, or triple, in the dataset. Tools such as RDF2RDF and TopBraid Composer can be used to convert datasets into this format.
There are several widely used datasets that can be used as benchmarks for comparing the size and complexity of different ontologies and knowledge bases. These include the Barton dataset, which is a complete dump of the MIT Libraries Barton catalog, and the LUBM (Lehigh University Benchmark) dataset, which is a freely available dataset based on YAGO2. Other datasets in this vein include Freebase, UniProt, Linked Life Data, Bio2RDF, and SONCA (Search based on ONtologies and Compound Analytics).
