**NCSOFT General Meeting of Shareholders Kim Taek-jin â??Genre Platform Diversificationâ? â??Development of Digital Humans with AIâ?**
Kim Taek -jin, CEO of NCsoft, revealed plans to diversify genres and platforms.
CEO Kim Taek- jin said at the shareholders’ meeting held at NCSOFT’s headquarters in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do on the 29th, “We will achieve platform diversification starting with TL this year, and provide new pleasure to the Korean and global markets by diversifying our portfolio and genre through four new non-MMORPG titles.” said.
NCsoft reappointed Pohang University of Science and Technology professor Choi Young-joo as a social director at the shareholders’ meeting on the same day. Ewha Womans University chair professor Choi Jae-cheon and Jeong Hwa Netflix Korea policy and legal director were newly appointed as social director and audit committee member, respectively.
CEO Kim said, â??We are continuing to invest to secure competitiveness in our core business by simultaneously preparing for survival and the future in a rapidly changing business environment.â? Through this, we introduced digital humans, which are the core integration of AI technology and visual technology.â?
He said, â??Generative AI such as ChatGPT is rapidly changing the corporate environment, and the speed of change is much greater in the game industry.â? revealed
There were also questions from shareholders about the game business model (BM) that raises profits centered on probability-type items.
Regarding this, CEO Kim replied, â??We are also trying to transform in terms of BM in line with the global market.â? Criticism was also raised about the participation of CEO Kim’s spouse, Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) Yoon Song-yi , and his younger brother, senior vice president (CPO) Kim Taek-heon (CPO).
CEO Kim said, â??CSO Yoon has been leading the AI â??â??technology research organization for a long time, and recently contributed to the company by announcing digital human technology at GDC 2023. CPO Kim also led NCsoftâ??s overseas sales growth based on the mobile market.â? he explained.
CEO Kim also emphasized the achievements of ESG management.
CEO Kim said, â??We obtained the highest rating among domestic game companies with the Morgan Stanley Capital International rating of AA and the Korea ESG Standards rating of overall A,â? adding, â??We are the only domestic game company to be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Korea Index. The excellence of ESG management has been officially recognized by domestic and international ESG evaluation institutions.â?
