Cover, the company behind the Hololive VTuber talents, has reported significant financial growth in its FY2023/3 report. The company’s revenue was 20.451 billion yen (approximately $150.8 million), with a net profit of 2.5 billion yen (around $18.4 million). The major contributors to this income were merchandise sales and streaming, generating 8 billion yen and 6.342 billion yen, respectively. As of March 31, 2023, the company had contracts with 75 VTubers, who have a collective following of 75.58 million subscribers.
The Hololive channels maintained their popularity, gaining 46.82 million new subscribers in 2023. Despite only four new VTubers joining the group, there was a significant revenue increase between Q4 and Q3 of FY2023/3, which Cover attributes to talent debuts in new areas and increased investment in current talents. An example of a successful talent is Hoshimachi Suiseiâ??s singing career.
To ensure continued growth, Cover plans to release more Hololive merchandise and product licensing, anticipating more collaborations with other companies and intellectual properties. The company has also invested in a new motion capture studio for creating more 3D content, Metaverse services, and the Holoplus app. Expected to launch in Summer 2023, the Holoplus app and Metaverse projects are estimated to cost around 2-2.3 billion yen until FY2024/3. Cover remains committed to talent development and long-term projects like Holoearth.
