**Digital Human Startup Fluent Selected for South Korea’s Technology Startup Investment Program**
The digital human motion creation solution startup, Fluent, has been selected for the Technology Startup Investment Program (TIPS) run by the South Korean Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
Earlier this year, Fluent secured seed investment from SparkLabs and Korea Investment Accelerator, private investors of TIPS. In January, it was selected for the 20th acceleration batch program of SparkLabs. With its recent selection in TIPS, Fluent is set to receive up to KRW 500 million (~$440,000) in funding over the next two years.
Fluent is a startup that provides a voice and camera-based 3D avatar motion capture solution. Its distinguishing feature is an AI motion capture technology that allows quick real-time implementation of sophisticated body and facial movements of a 3D avatar on PCs and mobile devices, without any special equipment. Fluent’s technological prowess solves problems such as the significant time and cost involved in creating virtual humans, as well as the limitations in facial expression during real-time conversations.
Through the TIPS program, Fluent intends to focus on the commercialization of its ‘Virtual Motion’ solution, which creates digital humans based on camera input, and on the development of its ‘Speech Motion’ solution, which generates digital human motion based on voice input. The goal is to expand into global markets.
Ye-Chan Jeon, the representative of Fluent, stated, “There is growing demand for the creation of virtual humans, driven by trends such as virtual influencers, AI virtual assistants, and interactive game NPCs.” He added that Fluent will lead innovation in the virtual human domain through expansion into domestic and global markets.
