**Digital Humans Transforming E-commerce: Luoyang Aims to be a Leading Live-Streaming City by 2025**
In the old city district of Datang Flower Market, Jimei Entertainment Cultural Media Group (also known as Jimei Entertainment) has introduced a “digital human” to its live streaming studio. Speaking fluently in Mandarin, showing a wide range of expressions, and capable of live streaming for 80 hours without showing any signs of fatigue, this digital human appears just like a real person on the screen.
As introduced by Jimei Entertainment’s general manager, Li Zheng, the company welcomed its first “digital human” staff member in May this year. Although they’ve only been working for a month, they’ve achieved remarkable results, garnering 80 new followers in 80 hours of broadcasting and performing at a higher-than-average level in the niche medical beauty industry.
According to Li, the reasons for choosing a “digital human” as the host are twofold: cost and dedication. In Luoyang, a host’s monthly salary can range from a few thousand to tens of thousands of yuan, not including commissions. “The human resources cost for a company is very high,” Li added. By contrast, the service fee for a “digital human” is only 998 yuan per month, and during the testing period, the digital host achieved sales of 5,000 yuan per hour of live streaming. Plus, the “digital human” can work tirelessly 24/7.
Throughout the year, the city has been promoting the personalized application of technologies like 5G, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence, creating immersive live streaming and other experiential and interactive new consumer scenarios, and enhancing the efficiency of e-commerce logistics distribution by establishing regional central warehouses, distribution warehouses, and forward warehouses.
In the warehouse of Goushihui, a local e-commerce platform under Luoyang Newspaper Group, the reporter saw workers arranging goods, ready to package. The warehouse, with a total area of 1092 square meters, includes both a storage area and a heavy goods area, and a cold storage suitable for storing vegetables, fruits, meat, seafood, etc. “It’s due to the advantage of an independent logistics system that we can fulfill the promise of half-day delivery,” said the person in charge of the Goushihui warehouse.
The city encourages cross-border e-commerce companies to establish regional central warehouses, distribution warehouses, and forward warehouses, enhancing the efficiency of e-commerce logistics distribution and promoting high-quality development of the e-commerce industry. Currently, over ten local companies have set up 36 overseas warehouses in 22 countries and regions, with a total area of 402,000 square meters.
According to a city commerce bureau official, they aim to achieve an e-commerce network retail sales breakthrough of 100 billion yuan by 2025, turning Luoyang into a distinctive live-streaming e-commerce city in the central region. In the future, they will integrate VR, AR, AI technology with live streaming to create immersive live streaming and other experiential, interactive new consumer scenarios. They will also support e-commerce companies in establishing intelligent cloud warehouses and shared warehouses according to market conditions and product features, to improve the live-streaming e-commerce industry chain and promote the upgrading of new consumption.
