Metaphor Analysis & Natural Language Processing

Metaphor analysis is a method or technique used to understand a text by identifying and analyzing the metaphors that are used in it. Metaphors are figures of speech that use a word or phrase to describe something in a way that is different from its literal meaning, in order to create a more vivid or imaginative image.

In the context of metaphor analysis, the goal is to identify and analyze the metaphors used in a given text in order to gain a deeper understanding of the ideas and concepts that are being conveyed. This can be done by identifying the words or phrases that are being used metaphorically, and then interpreting the meaning of those metaphors in the context of the text.

Metaphor analysis can be used in a variety of contexts, including literary analysis, cognitive linguistics, and natural language processing. By identifying and interpreting the metaphors used in a text, it is possible to gain a deeper understanding of the ideas and concepts that are being conveyed, and to enrich and enhance our understanding of the text.

Automated metaphor analysis and automatic metaphor analysis refer to the use of computational methods and algorithms to automatically identify and analyze metaphors in text.
Corpus-based metaphor analysis involves the use of large collections of texts, known as corpora, to identify and analyze patterns in the use of metaphors.

Detecting metaphoricity refers to the process of identifying whether an expression or phrase can be interpreted as a metaphor.
Metaphor-annotated corpus is a collection of texts in which metaphors have been identified and labeled for the purposes of analysis.
Metaphor constructions refer to the specific ways in which metaphors are constructed and used in language.
Metaphor corpus is a large collection of texts that is specifically designed for the study of metaphors.
Metaphor detection involves identifying metaphors in text. This can be done manually or using computational methods.
