Notes:
Meta is a company that is working on a technology called Codec Avatars, which are photorealistic avatars for use in virtual reality. The avatars are being developed using advanced machine learning techniques and multiple neural networks. Meta is also working on a feature called Instant Codec Avatars, which allows users to create their own avatars by scanning their face with a smartphone. The avatars are intended for use in Meta’s virtual reality platform, Horizon Worlds, and are meant to be a more realistic and personalized alternative to the cartoonish avatars currently available on the platform. Meta has been working on Codec Avatars since 2019 and expects to release them in the future.
