Can AI today differentiate between ideas and information and generate new ideas?

I suggest reading Wikipedia on the field of Computational creativity.  There is also a Quora topic for Computational Creativity.  In particular, you can see my answers under that topic, including:

  • How would you describe creativity using an algorithm?
  • What algorithms model the imagination in agent or multi-agent systems?
  • Will computers ever be able to think “out of the box”?
  • Will robots (i.e. computational creativity) replace artists in the future?
