**Control of Real-time Virtual Humans**
*This diagram was inspired by Victoria Del Castillo. Today we have bazillions of chatbot engines available (not to mention an infinity of chatbot experts). Today we have 3D models that we can control to our heart’s desire. However, today there is no straightforward way to connect chatbot engines with 3D models for real-time interaction. There are people fudging it in various ways. What is missing is CONTROL over lip synchronization/facial behavior and body language. The main reason this is missing is no standard rigging. However, there is also a gap at the “cognitive architecture” level in the coordination of natural language with intentional behavior and holistic communication in real-time virtual humans.*
