â??Itâ??s a bathroom.â?
Artificial intelligence can also do gags. On the 18th, at the KT booth at the ‘2022 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Graduate School Symposium’, a virtual human in the ‘AI Human Kiosk’ answered the request, “Tell me something interesting.” At first, the virtual human who started the build-up by saying, â??Shall I give you a quiz?â? asked, â??Where is the steaming place?â? and finished the answer with a very brazen expression, â??Itâ??s the bathroom.â? As he looks shocked because of the virtual human who cast the eccentric gag, a KT booth official explained, “This is an example of a conversation function, and in reality, it mainly functions as weather information, product information, and road guidance.”
The ‘2022 Artificial Intelligence (AI) Graduate School Symposium’ hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT will be held at COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul for two days from this day to the 19th.
The ‘2022 Artificial Intelligence Graduate School Symposium’ was prepared to share the achievements of AI graduate schools and to establish a public-private academic exchange and cooperation system. The event was attended by 16 AI graduate schools belonging to the council and 14 cooperative companies including LG, KT, Samsung Electronics, and POSCO.
A large number of graduate students and practical researchers in the field of artificial intelligence participated in the event that was visited around 1 o’clock that day. Ms. Kwon (23), a 3rd year university student in Seoul, who visited the event, said, â??I came to the event today because I want to go to graduate school in artificial intelligence-related fields.
LG, the first private company to participate as a sponsor, operated a large-scale booth for recruitment consultation and technology demonstrations at this event. Eight major affiliates, including LG AI Research Institute, LG Electronics, LG Display, LG Innotek, LG Energy Solution, LG Household & Health Care, LG U+, and LG CNS, unveiled their latest AI technologies at the LG integrated booth.
LG AI Research Institute developed a ‘vision model’ that converts images into text and text into images, as well as a ‘super-giant multi-modal AI’ that generates poetry and marketing phrases, and a language model that summarizes customer consultations and news articles. ‘EXAONE’ technology was introduced.
The vision model converts text into images using a corpus of 600 billion images and pairs of 350 million images.
An official from LG AI Research Institute explained, â??In the past, it was possible to only create an image by giving a word, but this model differentiates it in a two-way model that extracts a word even when an image is given.â?
Such a vision model also serves to inspire the artist’s secondary creation through the image created by AI. For example, there is a case where designer Park Yoon-hee created a secondary creation with the extracted image by inputting the word ‘flowers blooming on Venus’. An official added, “EXAONE (Expert AI For Everyone) aims to be a model that can inspire everyone.”
ExaOne technology also processed natural language to select news article titles or summarize news articles. This feature is especially useful when monitoring a large number of articles.
There was also a function to generate a poem when you input a suggested word, and it used quite natural sentences. In particular, when the word ‘advisor’ was given, contents such as ‘thank you professor’ and ‘professor, I love you’ continued, but when given the suggestive word ‘advisor,’ it was ‘the graduate school advisor’s thesis title and content, grabbing the title and contents, and taking dozens of pages each. After making corrections, at the end, I copied what I wrote and submitted it.â? It seemed more like an essay than a poem, but I felt the development of technology anew that AI could recognize subtle differences in the pronunciation of words and even compose related phrases.
LG Electronics introduced AI-based platforms applied to TVs, smart home appliances, and mobility, as well as robot and AI-only chip technologies. The process of pre-diagnosing equipment failures in the production process by applying AI technology to edge computing and the process of inspecting the appearance and noise quality of home appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioners and dryers with the AI â??â??vision inspection platform directly demonstrate
The AI â??â??platform checks in advance for defects in equipment that are difficult to see with the naked eye so that equipment can be replaced before failure.
LG Household & Health Care unveiled an AI technology that recommends customized lipstick color ingredient formulations to cosmetic researchers within a minute. An LG H&H official said, “Until now, only the base ingredients for the moisture formulation are recommended among lipsticks.” He said, “They prescribe how many percent of each of the 13 ingredients should be added in consideration of external color, internal color, and pigment content.”
LG U+ introduced an AI technology that extracts metadata that expresses various information such as people, actions, places, situations, and texts in a video scene so that customers can easily find the scene they want in media content.
An LG U+ official said, â??The technology will be used for customer consultation from next month. When this technology is introduced, the consultation time can be increased to 24 hours. there,â? he explained.
In addition, â?³LG Display is a technology that AI performs optimal display panel and circuit design by itself through reinforcement learning â?³LG Innotek analyzes words, sentences, and contexts in patent documents in real time to provide key information on patents such as problem solving methods and application fields Extracting AI technology â?³LG Energy Solution introduced AI deep learning technology that predicts quality defects in advance during the battery activation process in smart factories.
At KT booth, â?³ AI control solution ‘Doctor Wise’ that strengthens 5G network stability, and â?³ KT GiGA Genie’s AI brain were equipped with a virtual human created by ‘Deep Brain AI’, an AI specialized company, and other technologies were demonstrated.
In particular, in the AI â??â??Human Kiosk, a virtual human modeled on a real announcer recognizes the user’s voice and gives an answer. The user answers questions such as â??Howâ??s the weather in Gangnam today?â? and â??Tell me about Yi Sun-sinâ? with voice as if a real person is speaking. It is expected that even adults who find it difficult to use the kiosk will be able to use it easily.
A KT booth official said, â??AI human kiosks are actually being used in banks. It explains bank product cards,â? he said.
There was also a ‘KT Real Dance’ experience zone where you can learn dance moves with AI. The reporter tried to imitate Espa’s next level dance moves, but it wasn’t easy. The AI â??â??recognizes the user’s movements and determines whether they are doing the right thing.
The Samsung Electronics booth showcased the field of artificial intelligence, which is being researched at Samsung Electronics Advanced Institute of Technology. The AI â??â??Research Center of Samsung Electronics Advanced Institute of Technology is researching more software areas such as machine learning and computer vision. The System Research Center presented research on AI computing systems such as AI algorithms and modeling & simulation.
Regarding the AI â??â??semiconductor process optimization, a Samsung Electronics booth official said, â??In the past, humans could detect semiconductor wafer defects with the naked eye. We can find defective products.â?
