[Virtual Human 2.0] **”Human-level virtual human is possible within the next 5 years”**

*Interview with Kim Seong-gon, Vice President of KLleon, “Korea Leads the Global Virtual Human”*

With the development of virtual human production technology, virtual humans that are more human than humans are pouring out. She puts on dozens of facial expressions and digests various outfits more perfectly than the real model. Here, with the popularization of technology, a certain level of virtual human can be produced for around 5 million won. Considering that some virtual humans cost about 1 billion won to produce, it is about 1/200.

However, virtual humans are not well-received by the public. This is because virtual humans are still not enough to be called ‘humans’. The graphic level is close to the real thing, but it is still just a level that moves according to the given scenario. Some say that the popularity of the cyber singer, ‘Adam’, disappeared for a while in 1998, and that it will end with a glimmer of sparkle.

KLleon Vice President Seong-gon Kim asserted that â??virtual humans will reach a level similar to humans in 5 years.â? He said, â??The development speed of super-giant AI is happening faster than we expected. â? he explained.

In the professional field, AI is already replacing humans in some cases. For day-to-day conversations, higher-level AI is required as it covers all topics in unpredictable fields. However, in the case of specialized fields, the scope of conversation is limited, and the range that AI can predict becomes clear. A typical example is medicine. In some countries, AI is already being used for drug development and clinical trials.

The fact that companies around the world are speeding up the construction of an extended virtual world (metaverse) is also expected to promote the use of virtual humans. Deputy CEO Kim said, â??I believe that humans have a fundamental desire to expand and expand.

He added, â??If game avatars in the past replaced me in a limited way, in the metaverse world, I would find a subject to replace the real me, and this would be completed as a virtual human.â? To this end, KLleon is currently working on a cooperative project with Meta. Meta recently joined hands with Qualcomm to develop extended reality (XR) technology, speeding up the metaverse business.

Deputy CEO Kim predicted that the current supply-oriented virtual human market will quickly become a technology-oriented market in the future. He said, “In the early days, some companies started to introduce it for the title of ‘the first company using virtual humans’, and even now, there is more supply than demand.”

He continued, â??Just as KLleon lowered the initial construction cost, utilized the existing technology in a different way, and reduced the virtual human production cost to around 5 million won, the market will grow centered on technology in the future.â? The market will grow rapidly.â?

Deputy CEO Kim said, â??Koreaâ??s virtual human technology is evaluated as one of the leading countries in the world. Conversely, it means that overseas markets are not as developed as in Korea. We will take the lead,â? he said.
