**Virtual Human Great Leapâ?¦ It will sweep all industries**
An era in which ‘virtual humans’ equipped with artificial intelligence (AI) will be indistinguishable from real humans not only in brains but also in appearance will open. As cutting-edge technology continues to evolve, an era is approaching when the line between real people and robots becomes unclear.
Hundreds of people gathered at the ‘MK CES Forum 2023’ held in Las Vegas, USA on the 5th (local time), the first day of the official opening of CES 2023, and listened to the rapidly changing technology and investment trends.
Silvia Lasheba, 3D Content Producer of Unity, a leader in 3D engines, appeared as a keynote speaker at this event held under the theme of ‘Immersive Tech and Expanded Universe’ and emphasized that a great leap forward in virtual human services has begun.
Producer Rasheva showed a short video called ‘Enemies’ made through a 3D engine and said, “Creating a digital virtual human that people accept as plausible is one of the most difficult problems in computer graphics.” “We succeeded in implementing a technology that makes hair, eyebrows, and down hair elaborately and makes it look like a real human.” He added, “We are collaborating with companies around the world, including Korea, and these virtual humans are opening up new markets.” It means that the technology has developed to the level of communicating with humans in real life, so that the objection pointed out as a problem of virtual humans can be reduced. It is predicted that the industry using virtual humans can grow rapidly.
Saeed Amidi Plug and Play founder and CEO, who attended the event as another speaker, picked 2023 as the â??right time to investâ? to actively nurture such innovative technologies. Plug and Play is considered one of the ‘Big 2’ accelerators in the US, which is famous as an early investor in leading information technology (IT) companies such as Google and PayPal. At this year’s CES, global companies such as Google and General Motors (GM), which did not participate last year due to the pandemic, set up booths on a large scale. In addition, big techs such as Sony, Apple, and Amazon all jumped on the self-driving car platform and foreshadowed fierce technology preoccupation.
The MK CES Forum held on this day is the only event in which Maekyung Media Group signed a partnership with the Consumer Technology Association (CTA), which hosts CES, for six consecutive years as a domestic media, and is held annually locally. CTA Vice President John Kelly said, “It is very meaningful for the Korean media to hold a forum on CES new technologies and share knowledge during the CES period.”
