Holocaust survivor Inge Auerbacher, aged 88, is the subject of a new interactive VR experience called “Tell Me, Inge”, that leverages advances in VR and AI to share her story. The project, a collaboration between LA-based StoryFile, the World Jewish Congress, and Meta, allows users to have a virtual “conversation” with Auerbacher, asking about her experiences in a Nazi concentration camp. Users can ask questions based on prompts on the screen and the system provides Auerbacher’s answers from a database of video files created from two days of interviews. The aim is to use technology as a tool against disinformation and hate speech, and ensure the history of the Holocaust does not die.
