The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at **Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Womenâ??s University** in India has successfully developed an AI news anchor named Asha for its popular student-run news channel, Akka. Despite being in the experimental stage, Asha, which proficiently presents daily news and campus happenings, has garnered significant interest from tech experts, academic institutions, and media houses in the growing AI industry of north Karnataka. The AI anchor was developed using various AI technologies to replicate aspects such as news reading style, scriptwriting, voice over, video footage, and editing. Currently, the team is focusing on delivering news in Kannada while continuously working on improving the voice and visual aspects of Asha.
