**Inworld AI**, a startup that uses artificial intelligence (AI) in gaming, is now valued at over $500 million, making it the best-funded startup in its category. The company received investments from various sources including Moritz Baier-Lentz at Lightspeed, Stanford University, Raymond Liao at Samsung Next, Michael Stewart at M12 – Microsoft’s Venture Fund, Aaron Sisto at First Spark Ventures, and Taejoon Park at LG Technology Ventures.

In the two years since its inception, Inworld AI has collaborated with NetEase Games, Disneyâ??s ILM Immersive, Niantic, Inc., and LG Uplus to launch AI NPC experiences. However, securing funding was a challenge, given the skepticism surrounding the practicality and return on investment in AI, particularly after the failure of many AI startups in the ’80s and ’90s.

The founder, a veteran in the field who has experience with Google Assistant fund, shared that understanding the VC landscape and finding the right investors who share your vision of the future is key. The company successfully raised funds from corporate investors and VC firms that appreciated the technical capabilities of their product and team.

Inworld AIâ??s success, according to the founder, is due to being at the right place at the right time with the right team and experience. However, for those facing difficulties in securing funding, he advises focusing on what they can control, like product development and reducing expenses.
