A new technology, named **TeCH**, aims to improve the 3D reconstruction of clothed human figures from single images. Current methods struggle to accurately reconstruct the unseen parts of a person in a photo, often resulting in overly smooth and blurry surfaces. TeCH addresses this problem by using advanced machine learning techniques. It generates descriptive text prompts, such as details about garments and hairstyles, using a garment parsing model and Visual Question Answering (VQA). It also employs a personalized Text-to-Image diffusion model to capture the unique appearance of the subject. TeCH then uses this information to guide the creation of a detailed, high-resolution 3D model of the person in the photo, complete with realistic textures and geometry. This model is represented in a cost-effective way using a hybrid 3D representation. The ultimate goal is to produce highly accurate and detailed 3D models of clothed humans, based on single images, that surpass the quality and accuracy of current methods.
