**Hamad Bin Khalifa University** (HBKU) has embarked on an innovative research project, led by Dr. James She from the College of Science and Engineering, aiming to integrate generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Arab and Qatari culture to produce culturally relevant digital content. Existing generative AI technologies, such as Midjourney and Dall.E, often lack accurate representation of these cultures. Dr. She’s research, conducted over three years, focuses on authentically reflecting the Qatari and Arab heritage in AI-generated content. A recent achievement is the creation of an AI character named “AI Fahad”, designed to promote Qatari tourism by speaking multiple languages. This character emphasizes cultural details, showcasing attire like the “gitrah” and “thobe”.
