At the Gitex Global technology exhibition in Dubai, the Dubai Police showcased a virtual officer named First Lieutenant Amna, who greeted attendees and answered questions in both English and Arabic. This virtual avatar, driven by artificial intelligence, represents Dubai Police’s efforts to foster sustainable safety and security in the city. Although currently a prototype limited to responding to a select set of questions, Amna provided accurate information when queried. The realism of the virtual officer is notable, as it was modeled after an actual Dubai Police officer named Amna. Khalifa AlBlooshi, part of the design team for Amna, mentioned that this is only the first phase of the project. The vision includes multiple virtual assistants, each specializing in different areas, capable of communicating in up to 109 languages, and positioned in various public spaces.
