Conversational Interface & Dialog Systems

Notes:

A conversational interface is a type of user interface that enables users to interact with a computer or other device using natural language conversation. Conversational interfaces can take many forms, including chatbots, voice assistants, and messaging apps.

Conversational interfaces are used for a wide range of applications, including:

Customer service: Chatbots and voice assistants can be used to provide customer service by answering common questions, resolving issues, and providing information about products or services.
Information retrieval: Conversational interfaces can be used to search for and retrieve information from the internet or other sources.
Task completion: Conversational interfaces can be used to complete tasks or execute commands on behalf of the user, such as setting reminders, booking appointments, or ordering items online.
Entertainment: Chatbots and voice assistants can be used to provide entertainment, such as by telling jokes or playing games.

Conversational interfaces and dialog systems are closely related, as both involve the use of natural language conversation to interact with computers or other devices. A conversational interface is a type of user interface that enables users to communicate with a computer or other device using natural language conversation, while a dialog system is a type of software that enables a computer or other device to communicate with a human using natural language conversation.

In many cases, conversational interfaces are used to provide a user-facing interface for dialog systems, enabling users to interact with the system using natural language conversation.
