What are some conservative predictions about artificial intelligence over the next 50 years?
I am predicting 50 years of bad AI, not humanlike evil AI like in the movies, just plain bad like rotten AI. What I am predicting is that inadequate AI will encounter novel, exceptional situations for which it is not, could not, be prepared, and thus will create tremendous, unexpected problems of all kinds, which will come as a surprise, a shock, to people who had come to trust, and rely on, this technology. After society, mankind, has confronted enough of these problems only then will we get something like super intelligent AI. Exactly when this period of 50 years of bad AI will begin, I have no idea.
