What is the next big thing in recommendation systems?

IMHO, it’s not about recommendation systems per se, it’s about the technology underlying recommender systems, predictive analytics. For example, supposedly predictive analytics were the core advancement of IBM Watson. Do we generally consider Watson to be a recommender system? No, however predictive analytics recommended thequestions for Jeopardy clues. Predictive analytics may eventually play a role in every little thing in the Internet of Things, aka Internet of Everything.
