**Timbell Sueo Avatar ‘Lina’ successfully completed the TTA subtitle sign language broadcasting system development project for the hearing impaired**

Timbell Co., Ltd. (formerly Sori Java), a company specializing in artificial intelligence (AI) voice recording, announced on the 9th that it has successfully participated in the production of subtitles and sign language broadcasting systems for the hearing impaired of the Korea Information and Communication Technology Association (TTA). In this project, Timbell improved the performance of subtitles and sign language translation engines and produced sign language animations for avatars.

The Korea Information and Communications Technology Association (TTA) development project for the ‘caption sign language broadcasting system for the hearing impaired’ was operated with the goal of configuring hardware and software to enable mutual interworking with voice, subtitle, and sign language apps. It attracted attention by building a team subtitle/sign language translation server and developing a voice/subtitle/sign language app that implemented interlocking functions, as well as producing a live action-based sign language animation and providing it in an integrated form with the app.

Timbell participated in the project by utilizing its self-developed AI sign language avatar ‘Digital Human Rina’. Digital Human Rina is an AI avatar sign language generation system for the hearing impaired, and avatars can convey information using facial expressions and hand gestures without a sign language interpreter. Lina played a role in providing sign language services for new media video contents and laying the groundwork for improving Internet media accessibility for the hearing impaired.

An official from Timbell Co., Ltd. said, “It was rewarding to be able to produce a live-action based sign language animation using sign language avatar ‘Lina'” and “We will further advance our technology to provide more natural sign language services to sign language broadcasting service users in the future.”
