These anthropomorphic characters, a rabbit and a cat respectively, engage in activities typical of streetwear influencers such as collaborating with luxury brands like Mercedes-Benz and Gucci while also promoting their own merchandise. Their actions and narratives are constructed by a team of four writers who work swiftly to maintain the characters’ online presence. Synthetic influencers are becoming more popular due to their ability to avoid controversy and their appeal to brands who can control their narratives. However, they have also faced scrutiny for certain narratives. Superplastic is exploring expanding their characters’ presence beyond social media, developing long-form content, and have secured funding from Amazonâ??s Alexa Fund for this purpose.
