Himanshu Goel, the creator of India’s first virtual influencer named Kyra, shared the reasons behind the choices made during her creation. The name “Kyra” was chosen to be neutral and trendy, aiming to attract a broad audience. A South Indian virtual influencer named Shravya was also created. The decision to make Kyra female was strategic since they found more men follow women on social media platforms. Kyra, a 3D character, is currently a static, curated figure with a voice actress, but they aim to make her semi-autonomous. Kyra is a profitable venture, working with brands and currently having 200k followers on Instagram. The creators also plan to launch her music album. Himanshu Goel compares following virtual influencers to the fandom around fictional characters like Harry Potter or Sherlock Holmes. They are currently in search of a CTO to integrate more sophisticated AI, possibly like GPT-3. They aim to enhance storytelling and interactivity around Kyra using the Unreal Engine in the future.
