Arno Hartholt, Director of Research and Development Integration at ICT, provides insights into the creation of Embodied Conversational Agents for their Virtual Human Toolkit. The research team is photographing West Point Cadets to create embodied conversational agents, which are digital avatars that look, talk, gesture, and think like the person they’re modeled after. Creating such personalized avatars requires significant effort and precision, especially with details like lighting to prevent shadows on the face and to ensure high-quality digitization. The aim is to integrate the ability to create these personalized avatars into the Virtual Human Toolkit, a resource available to academic and military research communities.
