The Liberal Democratic Party (LDPR) in Russia has launched an AI chatbot emulating its late leader, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, a far-right figure known for his nationalistic views and support for the war in Ukraine. The chatbot, named “Zhirinovsky”, can respond to questions and predict future events, drawing on more than 18,000 hours of Zhirinovsky’s speeches and interviews for its training. During its unveiling at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the virtual Zhirinovsky stated that the war in Ukraine would continue until Russian safety and peace were assured. Zhirinovsky, who died from Covid-19 in 2022, accurately predicted Russia’s invasion of Ukraine shortly before his death.
