**Genies**, a technology firm specializing in avatar creation, backed by Bob Iger, has initiated a $1 million Developer Engagement Fund to incentivize developers to create augmented reality (AR) experiences using their proprietary developer kit. This kit enables selected developers to customize avatars and create a range of interactive experiences, from mini-games to virtual social worlds, that can be integrated into mobile AR, AR glasses, and VR headsets. The program aims to boost engagement and interaction within the avatar experiences, with the intention of accepting hundreds of developers initially and expanding to thousands by 2024.
