**Thailand Tourism Authority Launches ‘Rozy’, Virtual Human Ambassador **
On June 28, the Thailand Tourism Authority’s Korean office launched their promotional ambassador, the Virtual Human ‘Rozy’, at a commemorative event held at the Lotte Hotel in Sogong-dong, Seoul. Rozy, developed by a domestic company, has a significant following, with already 150,000 followers on Instagram. Rozy is being used by domestic companies as a local brand model. The Thai Tourism Authority plans to attract Korean tourists ahead of the summer holiday season through videos of the Krabi region in Thailand featuring Rozy.
Among those who attended the Rozy launch event and took commemorative photos were Wirasak Kowsurat, a member of the Thai Senate (fifth from the left), and Lee Jae-hwan, Vice President of the Korea Tourism Organization (fourth from the left).
The Thai ambassador to Korea, Wi-chu Wet-chachi, stated in his commemorative address that, “In celebration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Thailand and the ‘Year of Mutual Visits between Korea and Thailand’, we plan to focus on promoting the Krabi region in Thailand with Rozy,” and suggested that “both countries should cooperate for the promotion of the tourism industry and strengthen their business networks.”
The event was attended by various members of the travel industry, including Wirasak Kowsurat, a member of the Thai Senate; Lee Jae-hwan, Vice President of the Korea Tourism Organization; Wi-chu Wet-chachi, Thai ambassador to Korea; and Niti Shifrae, Vice President of the Thai Tourism Authority.
