**Superlabs CEO Jeon Jin-Soo Highlights the Future of Virtual Humans in the Metaverse, Addressing Human IP Limitations**
Could virtual humans be the future of the metaverse? According to Jeon Jin-Soo, CEO of Superlabs, who had led the development of SK Telecom’s metaverse service ‘ifriend’, this could indeed be the case. In his lecture titled ‘Generative AI era Virtual Human and Rasko AI’, Jeon stated that “The fundamental reason for creating virtual humans for business use is the enormous limitations of the content IP (Intellectual Property) possessed by humans. Business often gets halted due to IP-related issues, ranging from contract termination, social issues to personal problems”. Virtual humans could potentially resolve these problems, according to Jeon.
Jeon further stated during his keynote speech at The Wave Seoul 2023, held at COEX Grand Ballroom in Seoul on June 29th, that “The market for the metaverse and interactive AI will continue to grow. I founded Superlabs with the intention to leap into this market in advance. Virtual humans can make excellent partners once they are given an identity, and we are working hard to facilitate this”.
Before starting Superlabs in 2022, a subsidiary of Naver Snow, Jeon held various positions including Head of Technology at SK Telecom, Head of 5GX Service Business Division, and Vice President of Metaverse (CO, Company) at SK Telecom in 2021, being responsible for pioneering new technology businesses such as Virtual Reality (VR). The global virtual human market, which stood at 11.3 billion dollars in 2021, is projected to grow to a whopping 440 billion dollars by 2031. For such industrial growth, popularization of individual virtual human creation and introduction is key.
