**Integrating AI in History Education: Virtual Conversations with Second Sino-Japanese War Veterans**
With the development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), elements of AI have been introduced into history education. An institution has developed teaching materials titled “Conversations with Anti-Japanese War AI,” in which three veterans who participated in the Anti-Japanese War have been digitized into virtual personas that can interact online and directly respond to students’ questions about their wartime experiences. The Education Bureau has also commissioned the National History Education Center to develop electronic teaching materials for the “September 18 Incident” and suggests that schools provide relevant historical education based on their specific conditions.
These virtual personas answer questions based on the experiences of the Anti-Japanese veterans, responding with both voice and text.
The “Conversations with Anti-Japanese War AI” material is produced by the Chinese Cultural Research Institute. Students can engage directly with the virtual personas of the three veterans through chat rooms. These three veterans had participated in the American 14th Air Force, commonly known as the “Flying Tigers,” the East River Column’s Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade, and the Chinese Expeditionary Force to Burma. Users can inquire about living conditions during the wartime, job details, etc., and the AI will respond in voice and text.
One of the prototypes of the AI virtual persona, who once served as a messenger and nurse for the Hong Kong and Kowloon Independent Brigade, Lin Zhen, will attend a professional training course for teachers next month. She will also engage in a conversation with the Director of the Education Bureau, Cai Ruolian, and the Dean of the Chinese Cultural Research Institute, Qiu Yi.
